Inspects stringed instruments, such as banjos and guitars, for tone, finish, and mechanical action: Tightens strings of instrument by hand. Plucks and adjusts strings to test tonal quality and intonation. Examines instrument for flaws in construction and finish. Adjusts alignment of parts, using handtools. Files and sands rough areas and applies lacquer over areas with brush. Buffs lacquered areas, using power-buffing wheel.
