813 BRAZING, BRAZE-WELDING, AND SOLDERING OCCUPATIONS
This group includes occupations concerned with processes in which joining is produced by heating
the base metals (metals to be joined) to a suitable temperature and supplying a filler metal to
complete the joint. Brazing and braze-welding requires heating the base metals above 800 degrees F.
(427 degrees C.) but below their melting point. Soldering requires heating the base metals below 800
degrees F. (427 degrees C.) and below their melting point. Machine tenders in this group are
included in Group 819 as WELDING-MACHINE TENDER (welding). SOLDERER (jewelry-silver.) can be found
in Group 700.
