CODE: 22105D TITLE: Materials Engineers DEFINITION: Evaluate properties of materials used to manufacture products that must meet specialized design and performance criteria. May develop machinery and processes to manufacture materials, such as polymers, plastics, and alloys. Exclude ceramic engineers, metallurgists, and welding engineers. TASKS: 1. Reviews new product plans and makes recommendations for material selection based on design objectives and cost. 2. Plans and implements laboratory operations to develop material and fabrication procedures that maintain cost and performance standards. 3.
